Grant writing and nonprofit communications

Services

Program development assistance

I can assist your organization in developing new programs, enhancing current initiatives or making projects more attractive to funders by helping envision goals and objectives, program strategies and activities, human and operating resources needed to ensure success, outcome measurement and how programs will be sustained beyond immediate grant funding.

Funding searches and prospect research

Based on my extensive, time-tested knowledge of local, regional and national grant sources, I can identify and analyze your likeliest public and private grant funders, strategize your organization’s best approach for support and develop a comprehensive grant-seeking plan.

Nonprofit letters of intent, proposals and reports

I have 15 years of experience in writing compelling, competitive grant proposals for government, foundation and corporate grant funders and a track record of success in working with organizations to secure funding and achieve sustainable growth. I can work efficiently with program staff to help gather information, ask the questions that count and articulate your best case for grant support. I offer assistance at all stages of the grant cycle - from LOIs and proposals to reporting once the grant has been received. This may include application formatting, assembly and submission as needed.

Proposal critique and review

Objective proposal review with a fresh set of eyes can help you adjust and perfect your case for support. I can offer assistance and editing as needed to help your organization make your good proposal even better.

Marketing materials and other written products

I offer written content for annual reports, marketing flyers and organizational/program overviews, speeches and letters for fundraising events, press releases, e-blasts, individual fundraising appeals, newsletters and more.

My Approach

My approach to grants is informed by more than 15 years of experience in the field. I believe in setting the bar high because I know that funders are seeking the highest-quality applications and materials, while wanting to invest in work that is meaningful, impactful and innovative.

Relationships are key to successful grant fundraising. I will guide your organization towards cultivating and sustaining connections with philanthropic partners. I believe in making contact, whenever possible, before submitting grant applications, and seeking feedback whenever requests are declined.

It’s often easy to get excited about bringing in new funding before your nonprofit infrastructure is fully developed, but I believe in investing in proactive efforts to ensure you are ready to write the application and manage the requirements once funding is received. I may challenge your organization to take the time that is needed to get systems in place so that you can save time, money and frustration while increasing your competitiveness for grants.
